[GE users] Problem with tight integration of mpich2

confirmed!

Obviously here is already something missing, so it looks like a  
changed behavior in the latest MPCIH2 release. Just for curiosity:  
can you try an older version of MPICH2? If it's working, we have to  
move to the MPICH list.
