how about writing the vars you desire to a well-known file in ENV['TMP']

in otherwords


in startmpi.sh:

  echo 'export PATH=/extra/stuff/you/want:$PATH' >> "${TMP}/env.sh"  
  echo 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/extra/stuff/you/want:$LIBRARYPATH' >> "${TMP}/env.sh"  

in jobscript

  . "${TMP}/env.sh"
