Ah so it's a filer - like a NetAPP - wasn't sure.  I am very familiar with
NFS.

NAS = Network Attached Storage
My understanding is a box which sits on the network.
It contains storage, and allows other users on the network to
use that via the Unix-y NFS, or via Windows CIFS shares.

NFS = Network File System. A standard originated by Sun which allows
clients on an IP LAN to use storage on a server.

So NFS is one of the ways you can access remote (ie. not directly
attached to your host) storage.
A NAS server may offer NFS shares.
