[ The following text is in the "ISO-8859-1" character set. ]
[ Your display is set for the "ISO-8859-10" character set. ]
[ Some special characters may be displayed incorrectly. ]

Instead of:

#$ -pe mpich -4
#$ -v MPIR_HOME=/common/mpich/mpich-1.2.5-pgi5
#$ -v PWD=/net/machine/export/disk1/me/mpi/expt_1.8.2
#$ -l arch=glinux
#$ -o /net/machine/export/disk1/me/mpi/expt_1.8.2
#$ -e /net/machine/export/disk1/me/mpi/expt_1.8.2

you should try:

#$ -pe mpich -4
#$ -l arch=glinux
#$ -o /net/machine/export/disk1/me/mpi/expt_1.8.2
#$ -e /net/machine/export/disk1/me/mpi/expt_1.8.2
export MPIR_HOME=/common/mpich/mpich-1.2.5-pgi5
cd /net/machine/export/disk1/me/mpi/expt_1.8.2

It's easier I think to set the MPIR_HOME direct in the script instead with -v,
and although you can set a value to PWD, it will not change your directory. By
the next cd it will be set to the actual value by the shell again.

Cheers - Reuti
