No, I don't see that at all. I'm not sure how the installation went 
wrong. I simply ran the
qmaster install script on the head node and then used scp to copy the 
sge directory in which I untarred sge-bin and sge-common to x1. Then I 
ran execd install script on x1. I did all of it as root.
