The commercial and the opensource version are essentially the same...
except that the commercial version has a few add-ons and Sun provides
technical support.

>1. run multiple jobs with different nice values on the same machine ?

You can setup a fixed "priority" value for all the jobs in a certain queue,
or you can let SGE does it dynamically based on the "shares" that a job (or
a user, or a project) has.

The dynamic priority setting is called "reprioritization", and it is turned
off in SGE 6.0 if you have set "reprioritize_interval" to 0.

(or NO_REPRIORITIZATION for SGE 5.x)

It's called the "subordinate queue".
