If this is how SGE handles it, it looks rather bad to me...

AFAIK, for each job, SGE adds an additional group ID, and all the spawned
processes get this additional group ID. It is setup this way so that no
processes can escape from SGE. And it shouldn't be too hard to wait till
every process in the job finishes before cleaning up the job.

In some siturations, the "main task" is just a wrapper, so it may exit
while the children are doing real work...
