I assume the scripts need to be in directory that is accessible to all of my compute nodes (exported over nfs or some such)

He can add the optional prefix "user@" to setup those
scripts to run as any user.

Thanks Mark, I missed that in my last reply. Or he can
use a job starter (aka. starter method).
