	Sure, that could work.  Alternatively, if there are illegitimate PIDs for 
jobs that don't exist, at least allow the daemon to pass over them, as 
opposed to (apparently) getting stuck.  Your suggestion sounds better, 
though.  As it stands, if a machine reboots while a task is running, you'll 
probably need a sysadmin around to get the exec back up and running.
