[GE users] REMOTEHOST not set?

this looks like the RH system is trying to define the env var
"REMOTEHOST", so you might want to look at /etc/bashrc or /etc/csh.cshrc
or /etc/rc.d/rc.local or one of the scripts in /etc/profile.d dir.
