Sorry, but I made a mistake, my scrpit is generated automatically in a submit script and there was a typo in the script that caused the problem. All fixed and wotking now
 
operator error....!

Is '-soft' listed anywhere in your script file?

Also, can you run 'qstat -j <job id>' and see if you 'arch=xxx' is
listed anywhere, and if so, let us know what that whole line is?
