[GE users] mixed platform usage

A (probably silly) question:

I have, say, x86 and x86_64 machines in my cluster and both share the same
nfsroot (which is possible) but different kernels. Can I install sge such
that the x86_64 machines start the 64bit version of sge and the 32bit
machines start the 32bit version? Or do I have to do this manually by
tweaking the startup script?

Thanks for any hints.
