Thanks for the help, I am using the 64-bit version on Solaris 2.8.
When I run qlogin via inetd, there is no sshd -i started.
Hereare the sge and sshd processes

# ps -ef|grep sge
    root 12732 1 0 09:59:16 ? 0:07
/usr/local/sge/bin/sol-sparc64/sge_execd
    root 6122 12650 0 09:16:37 pts/2 0:00 grep sge
# uname -a
SunOS batch1.cdc.noaa.gov 5.8 Generic_117350-22 sun4u sparc
SUNW,Sun-Blade-1000
#
#
#
# ps -ef|grep ssh
     bjm 10826 10824 0 Jul 31 ? 0:01 sshd -i
    root 6127 12650 0 09:18:27 pts/2 0:00 grep ssh
    root 10824 147 0 Jul 31 ? 0:00 sshd -i

Start qlogin which does not connect

# ps -ef | grep ssh
    root 6132 12650 0 09:18:36 pts/2 0:00 grep ssh
     bjm 10826 10824 0 Jul 31 ? 0:01 sshd -i
