Because of the way that unset behaves in sh/ksh/...
it is probably not a good idea to do 'unset NAME'
without first checking of its existence. I had a
user who traps errors and when the settings.sh
file was sourced, the unset operations (e.g.,
unset SGE_QMASTER_PORT) resulted in an exit status
of 1 (Linux, AIX). ksh on IRIX does not present a
problem for compatibility reasons (see ksh man
