Daniel,
I'm afraid you will have to refer to the documentation for the
application binary you are running, or if that is not sufficient, the
source code if available.

Hi,

I am looking at this page in particular:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-5677/6ml49n2c7?q=N1GE&a=view

It only talks about successful exit status, like 0 or REST (which has no
special meaning).

But it does no really talk about error exit status. So how do I know for
sure that something has exited with an error?

Another thing, I am running binary jobs, so would that make any
difference to anything?

Thanks.

Daniel

Hi,

The exit_status you are looking at is set by the script or binary being
executed and is simply passed through by the sge shepherd.
For information on what action sge may take depending on the value of
the exit code, see chapter 8 of the N1GE 6 Administration
Guide.

Subject: [GE users] qacct exit status

Hi,

I am using qacct -j <job_id> to get the exit status of my jobs.

However, the exit_status I receive is often non-zero, but as far as I am
concerned, the job I submitted has executed "correctly".
.....
.....
granted_pe NONE
slots 1
failed 0
exit_status 80
.....
....

Is there a resource where I can lookup to determine the meanings of the
exit codes? Or is there a reason why my jobs might have a non-zero exit
status despite the fact that I think they exectued "correctly".

What I really need is a clear indication from "somewhere" in SGE that
either the job has completed successfully or has failed. I am basically
only interested in these 2 outcomes SUCCESS | FAILURE, how it fails I am
not so concerned at this point in time (possibly in the near future I
might be interested to know).

Thanks

Daniel
