if it is related, the patch is about to be crafted

note, as indicated in #2009 it needs not be specific to 2.6
kernels. Our suspicion is it occurs if NTPL threading model
is being used. Or is NTPL 2.6 specific?

Btw. how do you use Matlab with Grid Engine? Do you simply submit
a script to start it in batch mode or is there a longer story to tell?
