Hi Martin,

we also use AFS and it is possible to make ssh passwordless.

This is possible with a privat key:

try this

cd ~

ssh-keygen -t rsa -P "" -f ~/.ssh/identity
cp ~/.ssh/identity.pub ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

i hope that this was so right, otherwise you have to look how to produce private keys.

after that, it's possible that there is a fingerprint question where you have to answer yes but if answered once
there won't be a question again.

So i think an integration of mpi with ssh should be possible.

In howtos is reuti's guide for doing that.

I also make a Cluster in an Linux Pool with AFS, and try to integrate MPI at the moment ;-)

regards

Subject: [GE useres] PE without rsh and ssh

Hi everyone,
I am trying to set up a parallel environment with mpi, but due to our
setup I can't use ssh or rsh. A general policy forbids RSH, while all
$HOME directories are mounted via AFS making passwordless not
possible, at least it seams so to me. Is there another way to set up
any MPI Implementation with such an setup? This is my first job as
admin, so please don't be mad at me for asking such questions ...

Thank you

Martin Mechelke
