Sadly JGrid is not looking too good these days. It just never got the 
attention it needed. Fortunately, the Jini team has put together 
something which solves more or less the same problem in a very similar 
way. Check out the ComputeServer project:

It's being developed for Sun Grid, but since Sun Grid runs on Grid 
Engine, it should work fine on Grid Engine alone. For additional 
information, there was a JavaOne session on it called "Advanced Sun? 
Grid - Creating Applications for Horizontal Scale". The slides should be 
available online somewhere.
