This is unrelated: The scheduler monitoring output gets written to scheduler 
messages file only.

I searched Grid Engine sources (*.[ch]) for 'qstat.txt', but without success.
I bet there was some procedure in your environemnt which ran qstat -xml in 
regular intervals and wrote it's output to qstat.txt.$$

Well, then everything should be fine: We have Oct 31 now ;-)
