Graham,

If you create a complex attribute, such as compile_job, as a FORCED
BOOLEAN attribute, and then attach that attribute to your "compile"
queue, then only jobs which specify that attribute can be submitted to
the "compile" queue.

qsub -l compile_job <submission_script>

Anything that doesn't specify the compile job attribute will be sent to
one of your other queues.

I think.

Cheers,

Mat Bradford

Subject: [GE users] Silly Questions From One Who Previously Used PBS ..

I've recently moved from an environment where PBS was used .. to one
where I'm setting up SGE on a Linux Cluster. So I got a couple of
questions ..

1. Because I'm using a VDT implementation of Globus, I need to have
"reporting" activated. And it seems like SGE writes forever to a file
called "reporting" .. which can become very large! Is there a mechanism
within SGE to perhaps transparently roll it at daily intervals (like
PBS) or delete old records? And is this likely to impact the operation
of the "poll" subroutine found within the sge.pm program that comes
from: http://www.lesc.ic.ac.uk/projects/SGE-GT4.html ?

2. At present I just have a Queue called "all.q" to which jobs with no
"-q" specification are sent. What I'd like to do is create 2 new queues
called "compile" to (allow execution on the master-node only), and
"dque" (to allow execution on any other node). I can probably
accomplish this using the GUI .. but I've no idea how to then make
"dque" the queue which is used when there is no "-q" specification. And
I've no idea how to prevent users requesting execution on "all.q".

Any assistance here would be most welcome ..
