Try checking to see if you have this file:

$SGE_ROOT/SGE_CELL/common/sge_request

The only new thing I tried to implement was from one
of the mail which had following suggestion from
someone. Because I wanted some thing similar. But once
I got into this issue I had removed the queue,
hostgroup, host, and re-created everything. @pdqueue
is one of our hostgroups. and pd.q is the queue.

here is the one i had applied.

Subject: Re: [GE users] Mixed 2 and 4 slots with 2
queues

Instead of modifying complex_values, try this:

In the queue config for long.q should be a setting
called 'slots'.  Set
it to something like this:

slots                 2,[@quad=4]

By default, long.q has 2 slots. However, if the host
is in the '@quad'
hostgroup, then it'll have 4 slots.

Here is my script. which is the job script. which
doesn't indicate anything.

#!/bin/sh

#
# Usage: sleeper.sh [time]]
# default for time is 60 seconds

# -- our name ---
#$ -N Sleeper
#$ -S /bin/sh

/bin/echo Here I am. Sleeping now at: `date`

time=60
if [ $# -ge 1 ]; then
   time=$1
fi
sleep $time

echo Now it is: `date`
exit 1

Andreas,

Thanks for reply.

Here is the output of qstat -r for my job. However

it

doesn't provide any clue to me.

       Full jobname:     Sleeper
       Hard Resources:   virtual_free=500M

(0.000000)

                         mem_free=150M (0.000000)
                         pdqueue=false (0.000000)

So: where is pdqueue coming from? Any SGE requests
as Andreas
mentioned or maybe even inside the jobscript?

       Soft Resources:
       Hard requested queues: access.q

Also I did not find any $HOME/.sge_request

Hi,
I am running sge6 and just created a new queue

called

access.q, associated it with the hostgroup

@access.

hostgroup has only one machine x10. When I

submit

the

job I get following error message.

can not run in queue instance "access.q" because

job

requests unknown resource (dpqueue).

we do have one hostgroup called pdqueue however,

x10

is not part of the hostgroup @access

I have deleted once and re-created hostgroup as

well

as queue as well.
Any idea?

my job is very simple.
qsub -q access.q ~/bin/sleeper.sh

S, could you check resource requirements of this

job

using

    # qstat -r

I suspect a "-l dpqueue=..." somehow came into

your

job
submission e.g. via $HOME/.sge_request or

similar.

Note, there is also qsub -verify option that

allows

you
to monitor what submit option were in effect

before

you
send your job to Grid Engine.

Regards,
Andreas
