when trying to install an exec (or submit) host, inst_execd.sh (6.1u2)
tries unsuccessfully to run qconf -sh. it seems that even if
$SGE_QMASTER_PORT is set correctly in the environment, the script
forgets it and can't connect to the qmaster host.

inserting `echo $SGE_QMASTER_PORT` just before the line "$SGE_BIN/qconf
-sh > /dev/null 2>&1" shows that the variable gets unset at some point
in the script.

to get around this, i've inserted a line `SGE_QMASTER_PORT="536"` to
force inst_execd.sh to know the value, however this doesn't seem to
help. qconf -sh still exists with status 1 and triggers an error that
holds up the rest of the install.

running qconf -sh on its own on the client host work perfectly, and
results are returned. any thoughts on why it fails when called by
inst_execd.sh during the install procedure?

inst_sge -s returns this error:

Checking hostname resolving
---------------------------

Cannot contact qmaster. The command failed:

    ./bin/lx24-x86/qconf -sh

The error message was:

error: could not get environment variable SGE_QMASTER_PORT or
service "sge_qmaster"

You can fix the problem now or abort the installation procedure.
The problem can be:

    - the qmaster is not running
    - the qmaster host is down
    - an active firewall blocks your request

Contact qmaster again (y/n) ('n' will abort) [y] >>
