[GE users] merging std, stderr, parallel std, parallel stderr

I have users who submit at any one time > 1000 task arrays of 40 or so task
each. These users can run ~300 jobs concurrently and one issue is the
large amount of files being created: 1 stdout, 1stderr and if the user for some
reason or other decides to submit to a parallel environment an additional
paralled stdout and parallel stderr.

I know of course that stdout and stderr can be defined using -o and -e, but is
there an easy way to merge stdout and stderr using the naming conventions
of the -N variable and the job ID and task ID? and then merging the parallel
stdout and stderr into that file as well? This could reduce the number of files
by up to a factor of 3!
