I agree, but if I do the first option:
limit lic1 = 6 (ie, unlimited)
limit lic2 = 0 (ie, don't use at all)
If interactive sessions take 2 lic1, then the derived resource will decrease to 4, but 8 licenses are still available (so we could set the value to 6, not 4).
I guess this is not a common configuration, I think I will keep the derived without limit, and add a resource in SGE with a fixed value of 6. In my starccm script, I will take both the lic_ccmppar and counter do it will work without migraine!
Thank you
Rémi

Not quite.
If you have 6 lic1 (eg, parallel) and 4 lic2 (eg, serial), you can limit
the derived to 6 in any combination of the following:
limit lic1 = 6 (ie, unlimited)
limit lic2 = 0 (ie, don't use at all)
or even
limit lic1 = 4 (ie, don't use 2 of the parallel licenses)
limit lic2 = 2 (ie, use 2 of the serial licenses)
But if the final application always takes the parallel licenses anyhow,
it won't actually reserve them at all.
I guess you could also specify
limit lic2 = -4 (ie, reserve all 4 licenses for external use)
but this is a somewhat roundabout way of saying "0".
