did you add it to your pe_list for your queue (all.q in this case)? To
check, run:

qconf -sq all.q | grep pe_list

Subject: [GE users] pe is not in pe list

Hi all:

Attempting to create tight integration of mvapich and SGE

once i added a pe following the template running a test results:

cannot run in queue "all.q" because PE
"mvapich-8" is not in pe list
cannot run in PE "mvapich-8" because it only
offers 0 slots

qconf however does list the pe -

qconf -spl
mpi
mpi-12
mpi-4
mpi-6
mpi-8
mpich
mpich-12
mpich-4
mpich-6
mpich-8
mvapich
mvapich-8
orte
orte-12
orte-4
orte-6
orte-8

the pe is configured:
pe_name mvapich-8
slots 16
user_lists NONE
xuser_lists NONE
start_proc_args /opt/gridengine/mpi/startmpi.sh -catch_rsh
$pe_hostfile
stop_proc_args /opt/gridengine/mpi/stopmpi.sh
allocation_rule $round_robin
control_slaves TRUE
job_is_first_task FALSE
urgency_slots min

The goal incidentally would be to have allocation_rule = 8 for this - to
use 8 cores pre node our of 16.
But reading a previous post on this subject the answer was to
tound_robin to fix the pe list issue, then the allocation rule.

thanks.
joseph
