I spoke too soon.  Looks like jobs are submitted and might even run
sometimes.  However, they are not cleared after completing.  I have a
pretty simple cluster setup (basically all defaults for cluster and
hosts), so I think it might be my expectation that glibc-2.8 would be
supported by my current linux binaries.
