They are technically fully interchangebale. If you "diff" the binaries
you'd see it's just different legal verbiage in the binaries, same for the
rest of files in the distribution.

Currently (since November 2005 I think) the Sun binaries are available under
a license which allows free, unlimited use.

The "courtesy binaries" come in addition with even more rights, like the
right to re-distribute them. The exact terms of both distributions can be
found in the distribution itself and are viewable and accepted during
download.

Short: you can use Sun Grid Engine 6.2u2 (from Sun) without any problems for
"production" purposes. You can exchange the binaries and files with packages
of open source courtesy binaries.
