Hi Andre,
thanks a lot for helping.
I put replies below,

"can you do:
% grep port $SGE_ROOT/default/c?ommon/jmx/management?.properties
this gives you the correct jmx port.
e.g.
com.sun.grid.jgdi.ma?nagement.jmxremote.p?ort=12345"

Yep, that returns
com.sun.grid.jgdi.management.jmxremote.port=6446

"To see if the jmx thread started check the following:

$SGE_ROOT/default/c?ommon/bootstrap
...
jvm_threads 1"

Yes, that is so.

"and the qmaster jgdi* log files (especially jgdi0.log) in the directory
specified in

grep qmaster_spool_dir $SGE_ROOT/default/c?ommon/bootstrap"

Nope, some problems here maybe!

It points to,
qmaster_spool_dir /usr/SGE62u4/default/spool/qmaster

but in there I can't see anything lika any jgdi* or log files. Just,

job_scripts/
qmaster.pid
messages
jobseqnum
arseqnum
heartbeat

and the job_scripts dir is empty.

"And check if the correct entry for libjvm is set in the configuration:

qconf -sconf
...
libjvm_path /Library/Java/Home/.?./Libraries/libjvm.d?ylib
additional_jvm_args -Xmx256m

check if the libjvm_path is really existing"

Yes, that file exists at the location returned.

I tried the telnetting again with,
telnet FredsMacPro.local 6446

but that failed.

cheers
fred
