The content of the file on the exec host is:

11/19/2009 17:26:19|  main|oberon|C|can't create directory "oberon": No such
file or directory

I have now found my error:

I wanted to change to a local spool directory, but had overlooked that the
permissions were not set correctly.

Thank you for making me aware of the /tmp/execd.xxxx, which gave me a hint.
