The man page states that -t is available for qalter. But the range can't be changed at all, so this statement should be removed from the man
page.
The -t can be used as argument for the job range though, as it's outlined in `man sge_types` and mentioned by the original poster.
wc_job_range
The wildcard job range specification allows to reference specific array tasks for one or multiple jobs. The job is refer?
enced via wc_job and in addition gets a range specifier for the array tasks.
wc_job_range := wc_job [ -t range]

A true -t to change the jobrange isn't available for qalter (or the doc is right and the parser fails in case of qalter).
