You need to have a close look how qmake, based on gmake is built: It 
does not link with any SGE code, no SGE libs, nothing else. The gmake 
code just received a few lines of code changes to call "qrsh -inherit", 
which as an external program. So the SGE code is not "tainted" with GPL 

In addition for sure the GPL code is made available: it's part of the 
gridengine source code repository and when you download SGE or get a DVD 
you find the GPL code as part of it.

The gmake GPL copyright and legal disclaimers are retained in the source 
code and the third party copyright file which is part if any binary SGE 
distribution contains all of the legal disclaimers as well.

Yepp, keeping correctly track of all of the third party code is sth. you 
need to do very carefully.
