[GE users] Interactive Jobs from QMON on SGE6.2u5

Hi Reuti,

I was hoping to use qsh because our users want to have a GUI to enter their resource requirements rather than to do everything by command line. It seems like qrsh is the way to go for now, however.

Thanks for clarifying this!

Sum Yee

both commands do the same: they start an xterm process and don't use
any of the settings in SGE's configuration you made about using SSH.
Hence you need something like "xhost +" on the issuing machine which
is considered unsafe nowadays. Depending on any firewall setting, it
may even only work if you have the qmaster and execd on one and the
same machine.

From the command line you can use:

$ qrsh xterm

which will use the SSH setup you defined below. The plain /usr/sbin/
sshd is not tightly integrated into SGE, which means a) wrong
accounting and b) users may start processes which can jump out of the
process chain and keep running although the job left the machine
already. To get a tightly integrated SSH you need to compile at least
parts of SGE on your own. This version you don't need to install at
all, but move the compiled sshd from the source tree to a location
like /usr/sge/cluster/sshd from where you can access it on all nodes.
