this can for sure be changed when you recompile SGE, but a faster apporach can be to define in /etc/sudoers:

Cmnd_Alias SGECOMMANDS = /usr/sge/bin/lx24-amd64/qconf -as *
Defaults env_keep = "SGE_ROOT"
Defaults!SGECOMMANDS runas_default=sgeadmin, always_set_home, mail_always, mailto=reuti
%gridware ALL = (sgeadmin) NOPASSWD: SGECOMMANDS

Users, who are in the unix group "gridware" are allowed to run the commands listed in SGECOMMANDS with exactly these options under the account "sgeadmin" (where "sgeadmin" is an SGE manager) on ALL machines. You could also put the name of your headnode there instead of ALL.

$ sudo qconf -as submit_host_in_question

For the above one you need Version 1.7 of sudo, as the "Defaults!" isn't implemented before this version to define a default user for certain commands. Otherwise leave this line out and use instead:

$ sudo -u sgeadmin qconf -as submit_host_in_question

-- Reuti
