Issue #: 2632 Platform: Sun Reporter: roland (roland) Component: gridengine OS: All Subcomponent: qmaster Version: 6.0 CC: None defined Status: NEW Priority: P3 Resolution: Issue type: ENHANCEMENT Target milestone: --- Assigned to: ernst (ernst) QA Contact: ernst URL: * Summary: add support for dynamic host groups Status whiteboard: Attachments: Issue 2632 blocks: Votes for issue 2632: Opened: Wed Jun 25 01:24:00 -0700 2008 ------------------------ It would be good if grid engine would support dynamic host groups. Hosts would dynamically added and removed from this host group defined by simple load report matching syntax. For example all hosts with arch=lx24-* goes into hgroup @lx24 ------- Additional comments from roland Wed Jun 25 01:24:45 -0700 2008 ------- changed issue type ------- Additional comments from roland Wed Jun 25 01:28:34 -0700 2008 ------- This feature would help a lot to manage big clusters. For example hosts can be sorted automatically by rack if the hostname naming schema is set up properly (which is mostly the case). For example all hosts with hostname=rack1-node* goes into @rack1 Or all nodes which no longer reports alive=1 (default is 0) goes into hostgroup @outage.
