Issue #: 2691 Platform: All Reporter: ernst (ernst) Component: gridengine OS: All Subcomponent: install Version: 6.2 CC: None defined Status: NEW Priority: P2 Resolution: Issue type: ENHANCEMENT Target milestone: --- Assigned to: dom (dom) QA Contact: dom URL: * Summary: make local spool directories default for execd installation Status whiteboard: Attachments: Issue 2691 blocks: Votes for issue 2691: Opened: Tue Aug 19 01:59:00 -0700 2008 ------------------------ We have regular reports of users running into problems due to execd spooling on NFS, like performance problems, overloaded NFS server, or permission problems. The execd installation should examine the execd_spool_dir (we have an utilbin binary to analyze filesystem type), if it is on NFS, the install procedure should explain the possible drawbacks, ask if this is done intentionally and allow to change the spooldir. Install script should also suggest an apropriate default (e.g. /var/spool/sge). We could also consider to have execd output a warning message if it is configured to spool on NFS. ------- Additional comments from ernst Tue Aug 19 02:01:50 -0700 2008 ------- *** Issue 401 has been marked as a duplicate of this issue. ***
