Issue #: 373 Platform: All Reporter: andy (andy) Component: gridengine OS: All Subcomponent: scheduling Version: current CC: None defined Status: NEW Priority: P3 Resolution: Issue type: ENHANCEMENT Target milestone: --- Assigned to: andreas (andreas) QA Contact: andreas URL: * Summary: Allow load values and expressions as attribute values and load thresholds Status whiteboard: Attachments: Issue 373 blocks: Votes for issue 373: Opened: Thu Sep 5 02:13:00 -0700 2002 ------------------------ User Bernd Dammann (<bd@imm.dtu.dk>) suggests to have more flexibility in expressing load thresholds and complex attribute values. The objective is to avoid the need of manual reconfiguration of SGE if the configuration of the hardware changes. According the Bernd other RMS systems like IBM's LL and Condor allow this. From his mail: "Would it be possible to enhance the functionality of GE by allowing for the use of internal parameters in definitions of other parameters, i.e. the suspend/load thresholds 'load_avg = num_proc' (this one is easy: np_load_avg = 1.0) or 'load_avg = num_proc - 2' (more difficult), or the definition of slots in the host configuration: 'slots = num_proc -2' ? This is possible in other queuing systems, e.g. IBM's LoadLeveler, Condor, where one can combine internal (and user defined) parameters into logical and arithmetical expressions." ------- Additional comments from sgrell Mon Dec 12 03:15:30 -0700 2005 ------- Changed subcomponent.
